Joan Denton Jervis 95, passed away at home on March 28th 2011, after several years of declining health. She had a remarkable life, graduating from Northwestern with a degree in nursing in 1938, and then joining United Airlines where she had a long and distinguished career, retiring as Manager of Stewardess Training for San Francisco in 1971. In 1943 she left UAL for two years, training to become a flight nurse. She spent 1943 and 1944 in the Eighth AAF AIRVAC then transporting European theater wounded to England, making four or five flights a day to Omaha Beach after D-Day. Joan came to San Francisco with UAL in 1946. She met the late J. Lester Jervis and they married in 1965. They were long-time members of the St. Francis Yacht Club and enjoyed world travel. Joan is survived by her nephew Larry A. Denton (Martha), of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, as well as many friends. She also leaves her step-daughter Julia A. Jervis (O.L.
