"Permelia Ann Allen was born April 29, 1845, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa and passed away at her home in Walnut, Kansas, December 21, 1928, at 2 o'clock am. at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 22 days. She was united in marriage to Rasmus
Nelson Critcher, February 9, 1866. Of four children born to them one son, W. J. Critcher, survives. Three children died in infancy. Mr. & Mrs. Critcher spent the earlier part of their married life in traveling for Mr. Critchers health. In 1911 they came to Walnut and located here. Mrs. Critcher was a member of the Christian Church and was converted early in life. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her health had been faiIing for several years but her last illness was short and death was unexpected. She will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends. She !s survived by her husband, one son, eleven grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren. Also one sister Mrs. Emily Cutright of Greenup, Illinois, and one brother, Mart Allen of Springfield, Missouri. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist Church in charge of Rev. C.J. Knox. pastor of the Methodist Church. and buriaI was made in the Walnut Cemetery. The out of town relatives who attended the funeral of Mrs. R.N. Critcher were Mrs.
L.N. Burnan, and son Carl of Kansas City, Kan.; Mrs. James Taylor of Kansas City, Mo.; Mr. & Mrs. W. C. Mayberry and children of Parsons; Mr. & Mrs. Glen Smith of Parsons; Will Critcher of Kansas City, Mo., and Mr. & Mrs. E.L. Critcher of Parsons."
Please note: Permelia's headstone says "M.A. Critcher." It is most likely because Permelia had a nickname like "Millie" but this is definitely her headstone.
