Scieszinski services will be Wednesday
Services for Joseph L Scieszinski, 21, of rural Albia will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church in Melrose. He was killed in a car-motorcycle accident Sunday on Highway 5 south of Albia. According to authorities, Scieszinski was the driver of a northbound motorcycle which was passing a car when it collided head-on with a southbound car driven by John Chesney, 62, of Springfield, Mo. Daniel Clell Montgomery of Albia, a passenger on the cycle, was also killed. Chesney and his wife, Helen, 51, were treated and released from Monroe County Hospital. The car and cycle were total losses.
Joseph Leo Scieszinski was born in Ottumwa on Feb. 2, 1957, the son of Joseph R. and Monica O'Neill Scieszinski. He was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose.
Surviving are his mother of Albia Rt. 2 and a sister, Mrs. Jack Knowles of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his father. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church in Melrose with the Rev. Eugene Hoenig officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Melrose. A rosary will be 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Humeston Funeral Home in Albia.
