Bernice Scieszinski

Bernice Scieszinski, 76, of Melrose died June 13, 1991, at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Centerville. Services were held June 17, 1991 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose, the Rev. Mark Swanson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose.

She was born Oct. 9, 1914, in Melrose to John J. and Ella Walsh Carmody. She married Carl E. Scieszinski Aug. 31, 1946, at Melrose. He died Sept. 29, 1963.

She was a Melrose resident and also lived in Albia and Davenport for 14 years, where she was employed by Marycrest College. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose and Altar & Rosary Society.

She is survived by two brothers, Paul and James Carmody of Melrose and one sister, Mary Conway of Albia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Mark and Matt Carmody.

Gilbert Funeral Home of Albia was in charge of arrangements. An open memorial has been established.
