Ella Bernice (Easley) Smith, of East Peoria, Illinois passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois. Bernice was born on May 25, 1923 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, first daughter to James and Isabel Easley. She married Roy F. Smith on October 24, 1942 and they celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2007. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two sons: John of East Peoria, Illinois and Stephen of Okeechobee, Florida. Surviving are six sons, Ralph of Nashville, Illinois, Patrick of Peoria, Illinois; Paul of Chillicothe, Illinois, James of Orlando, Florida, William of East Peoria, Illinois; 2 daughters, Elaine Elser of Sheridan, Montana and Susan Patten of East Peoria, Illinois; many grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. She was a homemaker and later worked at WT Gant's. She was well loved by her husband, family and friends. She had a wonderful spirit, and a bubbly, sweet personality. She was a generous women with her time and talents, and was a lifelong servant of God. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 pm at the funeral home and the service will be at the funeral home, Saturday June 13th at 10 am, with Rev. Merle Fullerton, officiating and burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery, Mt Vernon, Illinois.
