Lawrence J. Brungardt Jr., 71, Emmeram, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Hays Medical Center. He was born April 16, 1941, in Hays to Lawrence J. and Alexia (Herman) Brungardt Sr.

He was a 1959 graduate of Victoria High School and a graduate of Fort Hays State College with a degree in accounting/finance.

He married M. Myrlene (Castor) on June 10, 1961, in Russell. She preceded him in death May 7, 2002.

He worked with agricultural lending and cattle order buying and was a farmer and stockman. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Walker.

Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Pottorff and husband, Michael, Terre Haute, Ind., and Amanda Brungardt-Oxenford, Walker; his mother, Hays; a brother, Sam Brungardt, Minneapolis; two sisters, Marge Carlson, Hays, and Jackie Prickett, Wichita; five grandchildren, Patrick and Peter Pottorff, Christian and Alexia Oxenford, and Malachi Wilhelm; and his companion, Jackie House, Salina.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann Catholic Church, Walker; private family inurnment will be at a later date. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. A 1959 class rosary will be at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Big Creek 4-H Club, Gorham. Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601, is in charge of arrangements.
