Andrew was the son of Robert C. Stewart and Mary M. Allen. My only finding of him is next to his brother John Stewart on the 1840 census in Dade County, Georgia. Andrew apparently died between 1849 and 1850.

I found a few records on Andrew's probable wife Hannah Howell? No confirmation of her maiden name but I speculate she might be the younger sister or cousin of Susannah Howell, wife of James Painter; parents of Andrew Jackson Painter who married Andrew and Hannah Stewart's daughter Jane Stewart.

At this time, I believe the children of Andrew Stewart and Hannah Howell? were:
1. A son born between 1836/1840 in Georgia or Alabama (possibly died young)
2. Sarah Ann born 1840 GA married Warren Crabtree
3. Jane born 1840 GA married Andrew Jackson Painter
4. Margarette Ann born c1841 AL
5. Permelia born 1843/44 AL
6. Cornelia E. born Dec1845 AL married Wm R. Keith
7. Frances born c.1846/47 AL
8. America 1850 DeKalb County, AL

Little is known about Andrew Stewart of the 1840 Rising Fawn / Stewart Town area of Dade County, Georgia. It is thought he may be the father of twins Sarah Ann and Jane Stewart born 1840 in Georgia who were taken in and raised / adopted by 1850 by Alfred and Alcey (Ellis) Long of nearby Sulphur Springs, DeKalb County, Alabama. He is also possibly the father of two other young girls who appear in different households on the 1850 census for DeKalb County, Alabama; a Margarette Stewart c1842 Alabama who is with the John and Elizabeth Allen family, and Cornelia E. Stewart c1846 Alabama who is with Henry and Elizabeth Peacock. [Alfred C. Ellis, 1999]

In 1860 Dade Co., Georgia, Margarette Ann Stewart is not enumerated in the household of John and Elizabeth Allen. Perhaps she has married. No marriage record is found in DeKalb Co., Alabama and unfortunately, the Dade Co., Georgia courthouse was burned by Union troops in Nov. 1863 during the Chattanooga Campaign. Cornelia E. Stewart remained in the household of Henry and Elizabeth Peacock in 1860 and 1870, and was married under the Peacock surname in 1886 in DeKalb Co., Alabama. Research continues on both Margarette Ann and Cornelia E. Stewart as well as their siblings. [Vicki Peterson, 2015]
