Robert was born between 1771 and 1780 in Tennessee. He married Polly Allen on "the 28th day of January 1804" in Knox Co., Tennessee; Filed by A. White, Bondsmen Robert Stewart and Thos. McSpaden. Robert and Mary (Allen) Stewart were the parents of eleven children: Matilda, Martha, John J., Samuel, Mary M., Robert, Martin, Andrew, Walker A., Margaret, and Nancy Stewart.

Robert Stewart was enumerated on the 1830 census in Marion Co., Tennessee and may have died there; but his eldest son John was married in 1833 in then Saint Clair Co., Alabama which became Jackson Co. and then DeKalb Co. within a few years. It's more than likely the Stewart family had already moved to Alabama. Many of Robert C. Stewart's descendants remained in DeKalb and nearby areas for several generations and probably even until this day.

I believe most of the early Stewart family dates are from the bible of youngest son Walker A. Stewart. A great deal of my Stewart information was generously shared with me by our family genealogist and historian in general, Alfred C. Ellis of DeKalb Co., Alabama. Additional Stewart family information as well as early day geographical names and locations was provided by Ed Gass of Dade Co., Georgia. By the time I started researching my Stewart ancestry I had the advantage of their personal knowledge and hands on research as well as the entry of computers and the Internet.
IF ALFRED OR ED, AND OTHERS UNNAMED HERE SHOULD EVER READ THIS, PLEASE KNOW I AM EVER AND TRUELY GRATEFUL OF YOUR SHARING WITH ME!!
We all increase the knowledge base by sharing. None of us are getting any younger and things unshared can be forever lost.

FROM THE INTERNET - Though I haven't closely examined all the information contained in Bob's coverage of the Stewart Family, the compilation appears to be thorough and well done. My genealogy has been available on WorldConnect for over a decade but Bob's website in a perfect example of how much we gain by sharing:
