MARY DIEFENDORF PASSES AT CANJ0
Was Born at Ames in 1863; Funeral Is Tomorrow CANAJOHARIE— Mrs. Mary E. Diefendorf, widow of Miles H. Diefendorf, passed away at her home at 100 Montgomery street on Monday afternoon, following an illness of three months. Her passing removes one of Canajoharie's well known and highly respected residents for many years. She was born in Ames on January 18, 1863, a daughter of Levi G. Barnes and Almena J. Miller. Her early life was spent in Ames but for many years she, had resided in Canajoharie. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the several societies and also of Fort Rensselaer chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, in which organization she served as treasurer. Surviving are three daughters, Miss Elsie M. Diefendorf, a teacher in Sage college at Troy; Mrs. Roy B. Williams and Mrs. Robert W. Burns all of this village; also one brother, A. C. Barnes of Ames. The funeral service will be held at the late home tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Charges M. Sturgess of Bennington, Vermont, a former pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, and Rev. Samuel W. Spear, the present pastor of the church, officiating and the interment will be in the Fort Plain Cemetery.
