Gary Cooper Coffey passed away on May 30, 2015 at his residence. He was born August 18, 1934, to Ruth Carter Coffey and Henry Coffey. Gary was a US Army veteran and was retired from GE. He attended Gardner Webb College.

Mr. Coffey was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Jasmine Marie Coffey and brothers Harold Coffey and Bill Coffey as well as three sisters; Mae Hoverstock, Marilyn Franklin and Lois Coffey.

Left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Joan Carnett Coffey of the home; one daughter, Patricia Ann Whitt and husband Mark of Guthrie OK, two sons David Patrick Coffey of Kings Creek, and Timothy Derrick Coffey and wife Violet of Granite Falls. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Aiden Whitt, Chance Whitt and Zach Stout.

Receiving for Mr. Coffey will be Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Mackie Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 PM with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 in the Mackie Chapel. Burial will follow in Winkler’s Grove Church Cemetary with Military Honors being rendered by DAR Chapter 6 of Caldwell County and Alexander Co. DAR Chapter 84. Reverend Dale Faulkenbury and Reverend Paul Deal will officiate.
