LIZELLA - Sammie Ashley Echols, 54, died Monday of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 3P.M., Friday with burial in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Hickman will officiate.

Ms. Echols, daughter of the late Rufus and Ezma Horne Ashley, was born in Dublin and lived in the Macon area for most of her life. A graduate of Bruce Elementary and Dudley Hughes Vocational School, she was retired from Bibb County Health Department. Ms. Echols attended Lizella Baptist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Survivors include her son, Lee Echols of Macon; her daughter, Samantha Varner of Lizella; four grandchildren, Kaylee Watts and Cassidy Varner of Lizella and India Echols and Austin Echols of Macon; four brothers, Tony R. Ashley, Troy S. Ashley, Jerry H. Ashley and Hank Ashley all of Macon; two sisters, Qutene Leonard and Gail Walker of Lizella; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
