Lucile Marxen Dies Saturday
Mrs. Lucile Marxen, 73, a resident of Lewis, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cass County Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since March 23.
The daughter of Jake and Lizzie Schlicht Willms, she born in Cass County April 4, 1904, and grew to womanhood in the Atlantic vicinity. She was married to Claus Marxen Jan. 12, 1921, and they moved to Macksburg, where she lived until moving to Lewis in 1963.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Esther) Butcher of Orient; two sons, Wilbur of Lewis and Donald of Creston; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Ray (Nellie) Briles of Lewis, Mrs. Herman (Annie) Neighbors of Anita, Mrs. Lena Hendrix of Griswold and Mrs. Carl (Maggie) Alff of Atlantic; a brother, John Pat Willms of Lewis; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1962; her parents; a great-grandson, Donald Lee Driver; a sister, Bertha Winchester; two brothers, Willie and Henry "Booty" Willms.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Roland Funeral Home, with Rev. Chuck Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery. (Atlantic News-Telegraph, Monday, April 11, 1977, p. 8)
