Mrs. Jake Willms Dies Here This Morning
Mrs. Lizzie Willms, 78, a former resident in Highland addition, died at 6 o'clock this morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Alff, 802 West Sixth street. She was the wife of Jake Willms, who died Oct. 11, 1951.
The daughter of John and Margaret Maglsaen Schlicht, she was born on a farm nine miles southeast of Walnut May 16, 1884 and was married to Mr. Willms July 17, 1902. They farmed south of Walnut until moving to Atlantic in 1944. She was a member of Zion Lutheran church.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Carl Alff and Mrs. Raymond Briles of Atlantic, Mrs. Claus Marxen of Creston, Mrs. Wilbur Hendrix of Griswold and Mrs. Herman Neighbors of Anita; two sons, John Pat and Henry Willms of Atlantic; a brother, Herman Schlicht of Nettleton, Miss.; 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Gene Winchester, a son, Willie Willms, four brothers, six sisters and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Roland funeral home, the Rev. G. A. Krengel officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic cemetery. (Atlantic News-Telegraph, Monday, March 11, 1963, p. 1)
