Richard R. McAdams, 95, of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at his residence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2015, Capps Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be in 10 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015, in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Richard Roscoe, one of 13 children, was born in the family home near Fairfield, to the late Alvin Floyd and Myrtis Childs McAdams. He left Fairfield to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. During his military service he received four Overseas Service Bars, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, one Bronze Arrowhead Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star and a Good Conduct Medal.

Following the war, Richard resided in Pasadena, Texas, for almost 30 years. In 1949, he married Billie Monroe. Richard was an accomplished carpenter specializing in cabinet making. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie, in 2008; five brothers; five sisters; and a niece, Diane Chappell.

Survivors include his sisters, Mary Bonner, of Teague, and Myrtle Walthall, of Fairfield; nephews, Ronny McAdams and wife, Jan, of Fairfield, and Joe Chappell, of Fairfield; great-nieces, Ashley McAdams and Melissa Gressett, of Fairfield; great-nephew, Bryan Chappell, of Fairfield; along with many other nieces and nephews and other family.
