Bobby Dent McAdams was born December 16, 1935 in Fairfield, Texas, to parents Alvin and Myrtis McAdams. He passed away January 5th, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. Bobby grew up in Fairfield and attended Fairfield schools. He married Clara Arlean Donaldson on September 3, 1958. During their life together, they raised three children – Garry, Diane, and Ronny. Bobby was a carpenter by trade and worked many years to provide for his family. Although he was the funny, fun-loving, jokester of the family, he also loved all his family deeply. He worried more about taking care of his “Honey Belle”(Arlean), his kids, and grandkids than he ever did himself. Bobby and each of his grand kids had a special bond.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Arlean; a loving son, Ronny McAdams and wife Jan; son-in-law, Joe Chappell; His loving grandchildren Melissa Grissett and husband Michael, Bryan Chappell, Amanda Platt and husband Rusty, Ashley McAdams and Kyle McAdams; His loving great-grandchildren Colton and Madyson Chappell, Ellie and Dawson Grissett, and Gentry Platt; one older Brother, Richard McAdams and two older sisters, Myrtle Walthall and Mary Bonner, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Garry McAdams and his daughter, Diane Chappell, his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 am Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tim Walthall, Ricky Cannon, L J McAdams, Bryan Chappell, Kyle McAdams, and Colton Chappell. Honorary Pallbearer was Jimmie McAdams.
