Callie McAdams Brown, 93, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014, in Providence Hospital in Waco. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 1, 2015, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2015, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Kenneth Henbest will officiate. Interment will follow the services in Greenwood Cemetery.

Callie was born in the now vanished community of Mount Zion, Freestone County, Texas, to the late Alvin F. and Myrtis Childs McAdams. She attended the Mt. Zion Elementary School and graduated from Fairfield High School with the Class of 1938 at the age of 16. Callie married Judd W. Brown on June 26, 1945 in Mexia, TX. Judd and Callie made their home in Teague where they spent over 64 years of marriage together. Callie taught Bible classes, hosted many bridal and baby showers and held many Ladies-Day luncheons. She was a faithful member of the Freestone Church of Christ. Callie enjoyed the weekly Tuesday get-togethers with her sisters, which was a “sacred” time that no one interfered with! Callie was known by her family as a good seamstress and an outstanding cook. She also enjoyed quilting, embroidering, reading, and playing dominoes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Judd W. Brown; brothers: Ellis McAdams, Marshall McAdams, Milton McAdams, and Jack McAdams; and sisters: Verdie Cannon, Ruby Bess Willard, and Dot Orand

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Buchanan and husband, Ed, of Elgin, and Joy Bowers and husband, Bill David, of Teague; grandson, Brian D. Bowers and wife, Julie, of Teague; granddaughters: Amy Buchanan, of Elgin, Christina Mims and husband, Ritchie, of Teague, and Julie Buchanan, of Austin; great-granddaughter, Allyson Bowers; great-grandsons: Austin Mims, Bo David Bowers, Cole Mims, and Blake David Bowers; brothers, Richard McAdams, and Bobby McAdams and wife, Arlene, all of Fairfield; sisters, Myrtle Walthall, of Fairfield, and Mary Bonner ,of Teague; brother-in-law, Marvin Brown and wife, Ruth, of Teague; sister-in-law, Mona Cole, of Cleveland, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and her caretakers, Minerva Solomon, Belinda Small, Doris Hunter, and Kenyatta McIntosh.
