Pauline Rosena Rouse, 92, of Dushore, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2006 at the Highlands Care Center in Laporte, PA. She spent her last day surrounded by her family. She was born on September 9, 1914 in Wilmot, PA, a daughter of the late Jacob & Belvia Hunsinger Neuber. She graduated from the Dushore High School, a member of the class of 1932. Pauline met William J. Rouse of Dushore, PA at the Dushore Silk Mill and they were married on August 23, 1941. They were married 59 years. Bill predeceased her on September 1, 2000. Pauline was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, friend and neighbor. She and Bill raised their six children on the family farm. She was active in school activities when her children attended St. Basil's Catholic School and Sullivan County High School. Pauline was known for her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She was also an outstanding cook and baker and was a caterer for many years. Her love of cooking was passed on to her children and is reflected in the Rouse Family Cookbook which was published by her children in December 2004. Pauline was also a scout leader for many years. Pauline was a life long member of Zion Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Dushore, PA and a former member of the Dorcas Society. She was very active with the Sullivan County Democratic Party and served as a county auditor for 16 years. Surviving: Three daughters and sons-in-law: Kathleen (Mark) Arpa Vienna, VA Rosemary (David) Meisner Manila, Philippines Dolores (William) Inch Vienna, VA Two sons and daughter-in-law: James Rouse Dushore, PA Richard (Patricia) Rouse Stafford, VA Daughter-in-law: Shirley Rouse Austin, TX Sister and brother-in-law: Betty (Dana) Horton Athens, PA Sisters-in-law: Arlene Neuber Wilmot, PA Helen Keating Elmira, NY Eleven grandchildren: Karen De Rouen, Travis and Craig Rouse Daniel, Jessica & Melissa Meisner Stephen & Kimberly Inch Jennifer, Stephanie and Richard Rouse Numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by a son, William R. Rouse on July 13, 1996 and by brothers: Reuben and Lewis Neuber and sister, Genevieve Smith. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Chapel, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Dushore, PA with the Rev. Randele Lee Albers, her pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 from and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Basil's Cemetery.
