William J. Rouse, Of Dushore, PA. Age 83 passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, September 1, 2000. Bill was born in Wilmot Township, Bradford County on June 27, 1917 son of the late Harry & Anna Sullivan Rouse. He moved to Dushore area in 1922 and lived on the Rouse farm until his death. Bill attended St. Basil's School in Dushore and worked at the Dushore Silk Mill where he met his wife, the former Pauline Neuber. They were married on August 23, 1941 and they recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Bill later worked for Harrington & Co. Creamery of Dushore and the successor companies. He began working for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation from which he retired in 1991 at the age of 75 after 17 years of service. Bill will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was also engaged in farming all of his life. He loved sports, especially football and baseball and was an avid Penn State fan. Bill was a member of St. Basil's Catholic Church in Dushore. Surviving: spouse Pauline at home; 3 daughters, Kathleen, Rosemary and Dolores and two sons James Rouse and Richard; daughter-in-law, Shirley Rouse, Austin, TX; sister Helen Keating of Elmira, NY; twelve grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by a brother Robert Rouse on March 6, 1937 and a son, William R. Rouse on July 13, 1996. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 4, 2000 at 10:30 AM from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St. Dushore, PA and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, PA with the Rev. Michael B. Harris, his pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil's Cemetery, Dushore, PA. Friends may call on Sunday, September 3, 2000 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St. Dushore, PA from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The family will provide the flowers and request that Memorial Donations be directed to St. Basil's Church Restoration Fund, PO Box 307, Dushore, PA. 18614.
