Mrs. Meadows passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Billdora Senior Care Center in Tylertown, Mississippi. She was born July 4, 1926 in Walthall County, Mississippi to the late Cullen Lafayette and Grace Estelle Fortenberry Brumfield. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband John Dee Meadows; son Billy Joe Meadows; brothers Robert “Bob” Brumfield and Frank Brumfield.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of McComb. She had been a seamstress at Haspel’s for over 20 years and a CNA at Tylertown Extended Care, now known as Golden Living-Tylertown, for 21 years. Mrs. Meadows looked forward to and loved her Disney World vacations. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee and doing Word Search and Sudoku puzzles. Mayhaw Jelly was her specialty.
Survivors include her son John Dee “JD” Meadows, Jr.; daughters Annette Leake, Linda (Sonny) Cothern all of Tylertown, Sharon Wallace of Baton Rouge, Gracie Guillot of McComb, and Carolyn (Douglas) Boughtman of Tylertown; brothers Bill Brumfield, Roland Brumfield both of Tylertown and Jewel (Evelyn) Brumfield of Bogalusa; sisters Jean (Troy) Coward of Noxapater and Jennie (Gene) Norman of McComb; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Thomas, Michael Salvato, David Salvato, Jonathan Stepps, Brian Brumfield, Kodi Boughtman and John Meadows, III.
Visitation will be at Capps Funeral Home on Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
