His affliction was an abcess on the liver, terminal with hemorrhage of the bowels. He met death calmly. The funeral services were attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends and neighbors ane were held at his residence with the Rev. C.E. West of stark officating.
Mr. Coverdale had been sick for a long time, but bore up under his affliction with patience and fortitude. When the hour of his departure came he said he was ready to go and affectionally bid farwell to his loved ones.. He was an upright man , a devoted husband and a loving father. His death, while not unexpected, cast a deep gloom over his home and the community. When his loving wife and children looked upon his cold, pallid face and fully realized that he had gone to his rest, they bowed their heads and wept with sorrow. How hard it is to have our loved ones taken from us by the grim reaper death. A good man is at rest. Peace to his memory.( as written in the Walnut Eagle)

A Father from us is gone. A voice we loved is stilled, A place made vacant in our home that never can be filled.
