He was the son of Garabed Der Avedisian and his first wife Asdghig. He was likely born in Zonguldak where his father owned a coal mine, but after the Armenian Genocide of 1915 Garabed had his wealth confiscated and the family moved to Istanbul where they lived in far reduced circumstances. Garabed's second wife and family lived in Ortaköy so that is likely where Noubar did as well. Noubar (also spelled Nubar) married Noemi Boyaciyan and they had one son Ara. Noubar was hoping to immigrate to Philadelphia where he had distant relatives who were working to effect the move, but unfortunately Noubar killed himself before the visa arrived. Noubar's date of burial was September 30, 1937. Noubar's son moved to France for good in 1971 and opened an Armenian restaurant. Perhaps Noubar's wife went as well, that is unknown to me but she died in 1972. Also buried with Noubar is Hrachia Menegenejian who died in 1959. The cemetery practices grave recycling when relatives are no longer found, so if there had been a marker for him it was removed and the grave reused. The cross marking the grave only has Hrachia's name on it.
