Hazel was born November 11, 1921, the daughter of Chester and Alta (Beebe) Baker in Argonia, KS.
Hazel married Elmer John Wehlage and they later divorced.
She worked for Thermoid until her retirement.
Hazel attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, and was a member of the Alter Society.
She enjoyed working in her flower garden, square dancing, and quilt making. Hazel and her companion Robert ran the Senior Center dances for over 20 years.
Hazel is survived by her son; LeRoy Wehlage of Chanute, KS, her companion of 33 years; Robert D. Smith of Chanute, KS, brother; John Baker of Wellington, KS, sister; Viola Griffen of Newton, KS, 3 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Elmer Wehlage, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, her daughter-in-law, and 1 great grandson.
