Obituary in The Bienville Democrat March 4, 1948:

Native of Parish Killed in Car Wreck
James Wimberly Tooke, head of the Monroe office of the federal bureau of internal revenue was injured fatally last Tuesday when his car ran into a culvert on the highway near Winnsboro. He died shortly after being taken to the hospital in Winnsboro. Mr. Tooke was a native of Bienville Parish, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Burt Tooke, prominent pioneer family of this parish.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Methodist Church in Monroe. Burial was in a Monroe cemetery. The deceased is survived by his widow; two sons, J.W. Tooke, Jr. and Dick Tooke; and one daughter, Sandra Tooke, all at home. Also one sister, Mrs. Mildred Harris of Houston, Texas, and an aunt, Mrs. L.M. Wilson of Bienville.
