Riverton, W. Va. - Russell Thompson, 55, of the Bennett Gap Section, died Tuesday at his home after a long illness.

Born in Riverton, he was a son of Gracie Thompson.

He had been employed as a mechanic for the Stern-Butcher Garage for 25 years.

Surviving are his widow, Ivanell (Mallow) Thompson; a daughter, Shirley Lee Thompson and a son, Russell Lee Thompson, both of Riverton; two sisters, Ruth Wimer, Elkins; Mrs. Alpha Wilfong, Riverton; a half sister, Zadie Lee, Riverton; two brothers, Roscoe Thompson, Elkins; Stanley Thompson, Riverton; a half brother, Mason (Doc) Cunningham, Riverton, and one grandchild.

Friends will be received at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin all day Wednesday and at the residence Thursday from 5 to 9 p. m.

The body will be taken to the Riverton United Methodist Church Friday at noon for services at 2 p. m.

The Rev. Ken Krimmel and the Rev. Paul O'Gorek will officiate.

Interment will be in the John Ad Mallow Cemetery, near Riverton.
