Age 87, he passed away at Valentine's Personal Care Home.

Son of the late Blaine Cunningham and the late Gracie Thompson.

He was a US Army veteran serving during World War II.

He married twice: first to Ethel Ketterman, who preceded him in death on February 7, 1950; and second Mary Catherine Woods Thompson whom he married on July 18, 1954, she survives.

Survived by three sons: Tommy Robert Thompson of Newton Falls, OH, Roy Thompson of Elkins, and Ronald Thompson of Beverly; four daughters: Doretha Sites of Seneca Rocks, Debra Snyder and Wilma Rogers, both of Elkins, and Brenda Hyre of Buckhannon; one brother Stanley Thompson of Riverton; 18 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by one son Randall Thompson; one grandson Joshua Thompson; two sisters: Alpha Wilfong and Ruth Wymer; three brothers: Clinton Thompson, Robert Thompson, and Russell Thompson; half-sister Zadie Lee; half-brother Mason 'Doc' Cunningham.

Services held at Tygart Valley Ministries, Beverly, with Pastor Curlie Ray Jr., Pastor Conley Ogdon, and Pastor Rick Price officiating.

Burial in Mountain State Memorial Gardens.
