Troy B. James, Jr., 88, born January 3, 1927 in Manor, GA passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Acosta-Rua Hospice Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He was predeceased by his parents Troy B. James, Jr. and Rosa Steedley James, his precious wife of 60 years, Betty Hunter James and 3 siblings. He is currently survived by his daughter, Miss Linda James, Sons Troy Allen (Sherri) and timothy Berton (Lia), 10 brothers and sisters and three precious in-laws who seemed like brothers and sisters. His surviving legacy also includes 6 grandchildren Heather (Paul) Simpson, Bryce, Brianna, Reagan, Ryan and Garret James, three great-grandchildren Army Sgt. Riley (Monica), Alex and Hunter Simpson along with one great-great-grandchild, Kyilee Simpson and a host of nieces and nephews and countless friends who he considered family. Troy was known for his kind, gentle spirit. He was lead usher and deacon for many years at his church, Evangel Temple Assembly of God. He was quick to offer a smile and a hand shake to anyone he encountered. He was an employee of CSX Railroad for 42.5 years. After retirement, he worked at Evangel Temple Assembly of God for nearly 20 years. He loved his country and would have gladly given the ultimate sacrifice in defending her and the freedoms we enjoy. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in Occupation Japan. He was certainly a member of "The Greatest Generation." A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral services will be Friday, April 24, 2015, 1:00 PM at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, 5755 Ramona Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Missions Department at Evangel Temple Assembly of God.
