On December 25, 1920 he was united in marriage to Galdys V. Gooding. To this union 12 children were born. Five sons and seven daughters. Lawrence was a proud farmer and family man. He retired in 1962 and he and his wife moved to Gallatin where he resided until May 17 when he entered the HIghlands Nursing Home in Gallatin. Death came at 7:00 p.m. June 7 at the aged of 76 years, 2 months and 19 days.
Lawrence was a member of the United Methodist Church at Winston and a pioneer member of the National Farmers Organization. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Gladys of the home; his 11 living children Mrs. Letha Fisher, Emporia, Kansas; Reuben Heldenbrand, Gallatin; Mrs. Florence Boring, Winston; Loren Heldenbrand, Kidder; Mrs. Shirley (Joe) DeLaCruz, Austin, Texas; Robert Heldenbrand, Coffey, Mo; Mrs. Bertha (Robert) Steele, Lithonia, Georgia; Mrs. Virginia (Robert) Vestal, Blue Springs, Mo.; Kenneth Heldenbrand, Winston; Mrs. Frances Mazzuca, Denver, Colorado and Gerald Heldenbrand, Winston, Mo; 31 grandchildren, 12 great-granchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth Sandy, Cameron; Mrs. Helen Clark, Eudora, Kansas; Mrs. Minnie (Earl) Malcom, Lead Hill, Arkansas; five brothers, Jess, Cameron; Russell, Winston; Oscar, Gallatin; Allan, Diamond, Ark; and Jack, Sunflower, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his 12th child, an infant daughter, Linda Maxine, age 8 months in 1945; his parents one brother, John, one sister Nellie, and one grandson.
