Russell W. Hollenback, 91, of Towanda RR 3 Burlington Township, Pa. passed away Wednesday evening July 20, 2005 at his home.
Born January 19, 1914 in Burlington Township he was the son of the late Wells and Mary Pruyne Hollenback. Russell owned and operated his farm in Burlington Township for many years. He was a former member of the Iona Grange No. 272 and the French Choppers Camping Club.
He is survived by two daugthers, Mary Timm and her husband William Timm of Athens; Cheryl Carey of Towanda; a son Russell G. Hollenback of Towanda RR 3; 12 grandchilren, Rebecca, Brian, and Shawn Carey, Charles, Steven, Michael and Jay Stone, Carletta Buck and her husband Duane Buck, Michelle Barbour and Calvin Barbour, Stacey Wilcox and her husband Jason Wilcox, Wendy Alderfer and her husband James Alderfer, and Julie and Chris Neville; 5 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister-in-law, Veronica Hollenback of East Towanda.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Hollenback on August 11, 1996; seven brothers, Joe, Carl, Leon, Ralph, Harold, D.A. (David), and Raymond Hollenback; three sisters, Elsie Ellis, Mable Hill, and Lula Pond.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 24, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave. Towanda with the Rev. Jasper Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain Lake Cemetery, Burlington Township, Pa. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to Guthrie Hospice, RR 1 Box 154, Towanda, Pa., 18848 in Russell W. Hollenback's memory. Submitted by Carol Brotzman
