Russell was born on March 15, 1950 in Sayre, Pa., the son of Russell W. and Gladys Rittenhouse Hollenback. He was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1968. Following high school, he worked on the family farm with his parents and eventually took over ownership and operation of the farm which he continued until the time of his passing. Russell also was employed by Osram Sylvania in Towanda for two years. He was a member of the American Angus Association and was a former member of the Iona Grange.
Russell enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports, the outdoors, working on the farm, traveling, playing cards and visiting with neighbors and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Dawn Berry Hollenback; four daughters and sons in law, several grandchildren, a sister, an aunt, several nieces, nephews, cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Judy M. Green Hollenback on June 12, 2010 and sister, Mary Timm on Sept. 27, 2012.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. with Pastor Theodore Griffin of the North Rome Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain Lake Cemetery, Burlington Twp., Pa. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
