At age 55, in 1847, Samuel led a wagon train over the Oregon Trail to Oregon City, OR. Upon arrival in Oregon City in December of 1847, Samuel built a home with a store front that was operated by Elizabeth with merchandise they had brought over the Oregon Trail from Michigan.
