Franklin Cheney, 74, father of Leo Cheney, of Placerville, and a pioneer native of southern Utah, died early Wednesday at a hospital in Sacramento.
Mr Cheney had been in Placerville since last July.
The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from Memory Chapel. Clyde Curtis, president of the Placerville branch of the LDS church, will officiate. Burial will be at Union cemetery.
Mr Cheney was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife.
