He was the 6th of 7 children born to Malous Ray, Sr. & Annie Lee (Rogers) Brashears. His wife was Venus Ella Raper who he married on 28 Nov 1947.


Entered Army in 1942, trained at Kearns, Utah, and Boise, Idaho. Served in India and China. Awarded Pres. Unit Cit., APO Ribbon, 3 battle stars, and GCM.

Tuesday, July 05, 2005 - Malous Ray "Shorty" Brashears, 84, died Sunday, July 3, 2005, in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at McMillan-Satterwhite Chapel. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery.


Mr. Brashears was born April 3, 1921, in Young County to Annie Lee (Rogers) and M.R. Brashears Sr. He was one of seven children who grew up a farm boy. He attended Rocky Mound School, a one-room school house in Young County. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and was deployed to the India-Burma Theater. He married Venus Raper on Nov. 28, 1947, and retired from Texas Instruments in 1987 after 27 years of service. He and his wife moved back to Graham after his retirement and made their home in the Rocky Mound Community and were members of the Loving Highway Church of Christ.


He is survived by his wife, Venus, of Graham; a son, Michael Ray Brashears and wife Ann; a granddaughter Sarah Brashears; and a sister, Mary Lou Copeland.
