VonDean Barnes, age 85, of Allen, Texas, passed away March 18, 2015, in McKinney, Texas. VonDean was born August 9, 1929, in Hamilton County, Texas, to Arthur Thomas and Alpha Mae (Sneed) Arnold. VonDean grew up in Dallas where she attended schools. She married Ray Floyd Barnes, Sr. on January 26, 1946, in Dallas, Texas. She was an Air Force Red Cross nurse and worked at the Wylie Clinic. VonDean helped Dr. Vita open the Allen Clinic in 1964 and was a long time nurse in Collin County. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Allen.

She is survived by her son, Ray Barnes, Jr. and wife, Denise of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Stephen Barnes of Wylie, Texas, Brandon Barnes of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Chris Short and wife, Amber also of Allen, Stephen Short and wife, Amy of Austin, Texas, and Elizabeth Muennich and husband, Dillon of Mason, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Dominik Short, Adeline Muennich, and David Barnes; sister, Doris Lane; brother, Hulan Arnold; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and five brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
