Born in Mitchell County, N.C., December 6, 1905, Sadie Alverta Isaacs Harrison was the daughter of Aaron Wesley Isaacs and Martha "Mattie" Ashley Isaacs, as their fifth born child of ten children.

* Sara "Annar" Isaacs died when only 14 years of age. Annar is buried there in Carter County, Tn., nearby her Grandfather, Emsley Isaacs, Jr., at the Isaacs Cemetery, off of Buck Mtn. Rd.

* MISSING SISTER - BERTHA or BERTIE L. ISAACS

"Bertie" a sister, left home for work out of state and never returned, so the family never knew what happened to her. The last known location was in Maryland. Perhaps, if Bertie had family of her own someone will read this someday and realize she had a family in North Carolina that loved her and with being in their thoughts as wondering what happened to her. She was born in Mitchell County, North Carolina, March 2, 1910. The family lived in the area of Mitchell County and Avery County. Also, they lived in Carter County, Tennessee, before moving to McDowell County, North Carolina around 1928. McDowell County was the last place of residence that Bertie lived with the family before leaving. She did take the train back and forth to Johnson City, Tennessee to work some. She possibly could have changed her name to being known as "Jackie" as she once told family that she had. Also, the name "Bertie" could have been spelled "Bertha" and with a middle initial of "L" in her name. With viewing a record of Bertie when a very small child it had her name spelled as "Bertha L. Isaacs". "Bertie" is in the photo(to the right) along with Sadie and 3 of the other siblings. Also, there is a possibility that her middle name, initial "L" could have been Lydia or Liddie. If it was, then she would have been named after her Grandmother, her Father's Mother, Lydia (Liddie) Carpenter Isaacs.

Sadie Alverta Isaacs married Fred Harrison, b 1905 d 1970, on June 29, 1923, in Carter County, Tn. She and her husband continued to live the remainder of thier lives there in Carter County, Tennessee.

Two of her siblings, Brown and Burnett Isaacs would later move to California where they lived with thier families the remainder of thier lives, except for Sadie spending some time in Michigan with her daughters before she passed away.

The other siblings, "Coy", Cozy, Maude, Earl, and Maggie settled in McDowell County, nearby thier parents and lived with thier families the remainder of thier lives.

Sadie and Fred Harrison had 9 children.

* Sadie Alberta Isaacs Harrison had gone up North to spend some time with her daughters and thier families and she died while up there, on July 9, 1991. Her body was taken back to Carter County, near Elizabethton, Tn. for burial next to her husband and sons buried there at the Markland Cemetery.

Dorothy Marie Harrison Sluder, age 84, of Adrian, Michigan, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at her home. She was born March 20, 1924, in Elizabethton, Tn., the daughter of Fred Harrison and Sadie Alberta Isaacs Harrison. "Marie" Harrison married Pearlo C. Sluder, in Carter Co., Tn.

Sadie was my Aunt, as her sister, Maggie, being the youngest child of the family. Maggie, my Mother, being 87 years old, as I write this, is still in fairly good health for her age and lives alone.

* Additional Note: Maggie Isaacs Barber, the last surviving sibling, passed away on July 6, 2009, in Marion, McDowell County, N.C., at the age of 90. Maggie's husband had passed away May 16, 1994, at the age of 79.
