John and his family moved to Colorado by train in 1923. They lived at various ranches near Steamboat Springs and at the Turner sawmill near Columbine, CO. Then in 1926, they moved to Craig, CO. John owned a coal mine and hauled coal. He bought a sawmill, and sold and hauled lumber. He was very active in the Baptist Church.
He and Nell had 6 children, one of whom lived only a few days: John Jacob Babb, Jr., William Ebert Babb, Nelle Louise Babb, and Robert Marion Babb. I do not know the name of the 6th child at this time.
