Beverly Ilene Gibbs, 77, died March 26, 2015 at Community Hospital.
Beverly was born Sept. 19, 1937 in York, Neb., the daughter of Melvin and Virginia (Harrington) Pomeroy. They moved to Lingle in 1941 and she attended school through the third grade there. They moved to Torrington in April of 1945, and she finished her schooling there, graduating Torrington High School in 1955. She worked for a year for the United Telephone Company of the West. Beverly married Horace "Pete" Gibbs on May 20, 1956 in Torrington. They lived in Torrington for a while, and, in 1972, moved to a farm south of Yoder. She worked part-time for the Gambles Store from 1957 to 1997 and worked as a cook for the Goshen County School District from 1975 until 1999 when she retired. Pete died in 2011, and she later moved to Torrington.
Beverly was a past member of the First Baptist Church in Torrington, the South Goshen Presbyterian Church, the Yoder Extension Club, and the Wyoming School Food Association where she served as treasurer. She enjoyed collecting sheep, sewing, playing dominoes, the view from the window to the south at the farm, and spending time with her family.
Beverly is survived by two sons, Harvey (Dawn) Gibbs of Monument, N.M. and Keith (Cindy) Gibbs of Lingle; grandchildren, Kacey (Bobbiejo) Gibbs, Shane Gibbs, Amy (Dustin) Haas, Hannah Gibbs, and Heather Gibbs; and great-grandchildren, Haylee Gibbs, Kylie Gibbs, and Brynnley Gibbs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Randy Gibbs; a sister, Carol Groskopf; and three brothers, Wayne Pomeroy, Norman Pomeroy, and Dwight Pomeroy.
