Louise Pomeroy, 85, of Torrington, Wyo., died on Friday, June 8, 2001, at Goshen Care Center in Torrington.

She was born April 3, 1916, at Benedict, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Baker) Harrington. She attended rural school #66 near York and York High School. On Oct. 20, 1934, she married Melvin Pomeroy at York. They moved to Lingle, Wyo., in 1941 and in 1945 they moved to Torrington.

Louise attended the Council Church at Bradshaw as a child. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Torrington.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly (H.A. "Pete") Gibbs of Yoder, Wyo.; two sons, Norman (Janette) Pomeroy of Lusk, Wyo., and Dwight (Jackie) Pomeroy of Craig, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Pomeroy of Craig; a son-in-law, Richard Groskopf of Brighton, Colo.; a sister, Esther Brondel of Central City; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Melvin, she was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, a grandson, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, at the First Baptist Church in Torrington with the Rev. Ronald Liesmann officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Memorials have been established at the First Baptist Church in Torrington and for the Goshen Care Center Activity Center. The Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington is in charge of arrangements.
