She may have been born in Ohio, but Iowa seems much more likely as she was baptized a few months later on 12 May 1850 at the Presbyterian Church in Yellow Springs Township, Des Moines County, Iowa. She married Andrew Perry Collins on 26 March 1868 in Des Moines County, Iowa. They moved to California in 1906 when her mother died there. After the death of Andrew, she married second to John W. Covert on 6 June 1924 in Riverside, California.
