OBITUARY - "The Times"
Crescentia (Egle) Krohmer was born in Buchhau Germany, Dec. 10th 1842 and died at New Lisbon, on Nov. 6, 1899. When nine years of age she came to America with her parents locating at Wilmington, Delaware, for two years and a half, after which she came to Watertown, Wisconsin, where in 1862 she was married to Gustave Krohmer, who was a member of Co. K, Third Reg't Wisconsin Cav. Vols in the civil war. In the fall of 1868 they came to New Lisbon where they spent the balance of thier days.
Mr. Krohmer died Sept. 4th last. Since then Mrs. Krohmer's health has been very poorly and she suffered a severe attack of malarial fever with other complications. The best of medical skill however failed to save her, and thus in the space of about two months have the members of a once happy and contented home been bereft of kind and affectionate parents.
Mrs. Krohmer was one of those tender sympathetic women whose heart always yearned to aid the sick and unfortunate. Her many kind deeds will ever live in the memory of those who came under her kind consideration during trials of suffering and adversity. She was an active member of the Woman's Relief Corps of this city for a great many years and held many offices in that noble order. Deceased was also a member of the Home Forum in which she carried $1,000 life insurance. Although not actually connected with any of our churches, she lived the life of a consistent Christian.
She leaves to mourn her departure a father, three sisters, and the following children, viz: Mrs. Charles Reynolds and Mrs. E. Meredith of the town of Lisbon, Miss Louisa Krohmer, Fred C. Krohmer, Geo. H. Krohmer, (foreman of "The Times" office) and Gus Krohmer of this city.
The funeral services took place from the Methodist church yesterday afternoon. Rev. R. L. Bunyard and Rev. J. D. Searles officiating. A very large concourse of sympathetic friends and neighbors were in attendance to show their last tribute of respect to the departed one. The Woman's Relief Corps and members of the G.A.R. Post joined in the procession which followed her remains to their last resting place in the New Lisbon Cemetery. The Times joins with the citizens of this city and vicinity in extending sympathy to the sorrowing relatives.
