Betty was a lifelong resident of Stanly County and worked at Wiscassett Mills for over 40 years, last as a department manager. She was also a volunteer at Stanly Memorial Hospital and helped with her grandchildren which she loved dearly.
She was a Baptist and attended church as long as her health permitted.
