Charles Leland "Lee" Aplin

Lee grew up in North Dakota on a homestead ranch in Timmer and the small town of Grenora. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering at North Dakota State in Fargo.
After graduation, he moved to California to work on aircraft instrumentation and was drafted during WWII into the Navy at Moffat Field. After the war, he moved to San Francisco where he meet Helen Marie Novak. They were married in 1948, had 3 children and lived in Palo Alto. He spent most of his career working as a Sales Engineer in instrumentation and mining equipment.
After retirement, he moved to Auburn in 1989 where he enthusiastically pursued his interests in photography, genealogy, hiking, local history, woodworking, aviation, writing, travel, his Norwegian heritage, philosophy and talking to interesting people anywhere.
Lee died peacefully of old age, surrounded by his family. He was preceeded in death by his parents, sister, brother, and wife Helen. He is survived by his children: Kristin Aplin, LeeAnn Aplin Houck, and Paul Aplin, grandchildren: Tyler Clark, Gavin Clark, Alyssa Bartos, Stephanie Lee and Erik Aplin, and great-grandchildren: Baxter Boggie, Aela Clark, Jade Clark and Jayden Bartos.
Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Monday, March 16th at 11 am at the Canyon View Community Center, 417 Maidu Drive, Auburn, Calif.
