Funeral services for Adolph t. Backlund were held April 3, 1963 from the First Lutheran church of Alexandria. Rev. Philip Westby and Rev. David Home officiated. Casket bearers were Alvin Carlson, Alton Carlson, Aalter Krueger, Olander Olson, Arnold Overgaard and Orlin Maanum. Interment was in the Kinkead cemetery.
Adolph T. Backlund was born at Hoffman, Minn., on Jan. 24, 1889, the son of Jonas and Gertrude Backlund. He was united in marriage to Grace Sheppard at Hoffman, in 1917.
Mr. Backlund lived in Hoffman until 1934 where he was a rural mail carrier for 19 years. He then moved to Delano where he carried mail for 5 years. From 1939 to his retirement in 1950 he worked in the post office in Minneapolis. After his retirement he moved to Osakis and lived for five years, and in 1955 moved to Alexandria.
Mr. Backlund passed away April 1, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 7 days. Surviving are his wife Grace; two sons, Ralph of New York City; Boyd of Alexandria; 2 sisters, Mrs. Fred Yokel of Anaheim, Calif.; Mrs. Ruth Ahlin of San Diego, 3 grandchildren.
