Clinton Archie Anderson, better known as "Munger" by his family and friends, died January 7, 1997 at the age of 66. He was born August 21, 1930 in La Grande Township, Minnesota to Clifford and Minnie (Middleton) Anderson. Clinton was baptized at Grand Forks, North Dakota and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. In 1948 he graduated from Alexandria High School.
He began working for the Burlington Northern Railroad prior to enlisting in the U.S. Military. Clinton served as a Corporal in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 in Korea during the Korean Conflict. After receiving his honorable discharge, he continued his career as a foreman for Burlington Railroad. He retired at the age of 62 and then enjoyed farming for the next four years.
He was a talented sportsman who played baseball for the Alexandria High School. He also played on the Carlos and Garfield town teams. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and deer hunting. He was known by his family as a "good brother" and enjoyed the company of many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Russell in 1995. He is survived by two brothers: Alden and wife Arlene Anderson of Alexandria; Robert Anderson of Alexandria; two sisters: Dolores Kvilhaug of Alexandria; LaVonne and husband Clifford Peterson of Alexandria; an aunt Gladys Nelson and uncle, Lester Basgaard of Grand Forks.
Funeral services were held at First Lutheran Church of Alexandria on January 11, 1997 with Rev. Keith Lentz officiating. Interment was in Kinkead Cemetery with Robin Kvilhaug, Rick Kvilhaug, Rallie Kvilhaug, Kevin Anderson, Kenden Anderson, Clifton Peterson and Perry Anderson serving as pallbearers. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home.
