Charlie was the stepson of Evora Beatrice Little (Oman) Kello, the half brother of Margaret Beatrice Kello Belda, James Merritt Kello, and Helen Virginia Kello Stillman, and the stepbrother of John Ward Oman.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War I in France.
In 1920 he married Mildred Degge Pike Cheek and together they had two sons, Charles Wilson "Duck" Kello, Jr. born in 1921 and Walter Clifton "Odie" Kello born in 1926. He was the stepfather of Myrtle Lucille Cheek.
Early in his career he sold life insurance and later worked for Pepsi Cola Company for over 25 years.
Charlie had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. Among his many talents, he could whittle and often made small toys with little wooden balls that spun around, and he could walk on his hands!
He had a kind and gentle spirit.
Charlie died in 1966 at the age of 69 and is buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Norfolk, Virginia next to his wife and stepdaughter.
