Joy C. Lovejoy Cumming, 87, died May 28, 2004 in Waco TX. Services at Connally Compton chapel, burial in Rosemound Cemetery.

Mrs. Cumming was born in Coleman county TX on Nov 30, 1916 to John and Bertha Mueller Carlile.

She was a graduate of Waco High school and a college in Ohio and was employed as an elementary school teacher.

In 1941 she married Tom Cumming SR and he died in 1988.
Mrs. Cumming lived in Ft Worth TX, Birmingham ALA, San Antonio TX, Yellow Springs Ohio, Dallas TX and Greenville TX before returning to Waco. She was a member of Edgefield Baptist church, Waco –McLennan County Retired Teachers Assn, volunteered in the local literacy program and enjoyed playing bridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Perry and Hollis Carlile, and sisters, Ella Mae Lewis and Madelyn Luedke.

Survivors: sons, Tom Cumming (Sandy) and John L. Cumming all of Austin TX; daughter, Joy Perry of Dallas TX; grandchildren, Carolyn Perry of Dallas TX, David Cumming (Kim) of Garland TX, and Laura Cumming of San Antonio TX; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Andrew Cumming of Garland TX; brothers, Miller Carlile and Woodrow Carlile (Cathryn) all of Waco TX; sisters, Corinne Lowery of Waco and Louise Hofheinz of Ft worth TX, and many nieces and nephews.
