Miller M. Carlile, 93, of Waco, died Monday, November 3, 2014, in Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. A private burial was held in Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation and reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, November 6, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Reception Hall.

Miller Marcus was born in Texas, the 5th child of nine children born to the late John M. and Bertha K. "Betty" Carlile. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He proudly served his country for more than 23 years. He was a Japanese Intercept Operator in the 125th Radio Intelligence Company during World War II. Miller served overseas in New Guina, Indonesia, the Philippines, occupied Japan, Korea and Turkey. He was a fiercely independent person, an avid reader, and lifelong history buff.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Perry and Hollis Leslie Carlile; and sisters, Corine and Lanegay Carlile.

Survivors include his sister, Madeline Louise Hoffeinz, of Fort Worth; brother, Woodrow Carlile and wife, Cathryn, of Waco; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
