Ottie was the daughter of Daniel Phelps Chaney & Susan Snowden Chaney. She married Merritt Franklin Montgomery, the son of William & Sarah Hogan Montgomery, on December 21, 1905 in Irvine, Kentucky. The couple were the parents of Gertrude, Owen, Viola, Selwyn Bach and Naldie Sarah Montgomery.
She was still a resident of Irvine when her daughter, Viola Montgomery Leslie of Covington, arranged for Mrs. Montgomery's placement in the Golden Rule Rest Home. Mrs. Montgomery passed away, in that facility, from the effects of cancer. Following funeral services, Mrs. Montgomery's remains were sent to West Irvine for interment.
