Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Olive Chambliss Allen, 86, widow of Samuel L. Allen, were incomplete late Monday pending the arrival of relatives. Mrs. Allen died Sunday afternoon.

Dr. H. L. Jones, pastor of the First Methodist church of Monroe, assisted by Rev. Lea Joyner of the Southside Methodist church, will officiate. Interment under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral home will be in the family plot in the Old City cemetery.

Mrs. Allen is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Austin Miller, of Monroe; one grandson, Austin Miller, Jr.; a cousin, Judge David I. Garrett, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Allen was born Jan. 24, 1877 on a plantation south of Monroe, now owned by Neal McHenry. She was the daughter of William R. and Sara Garrett Chambliss, and the granddaughter of Isaiah Garrett.

She resided in Calhoun until 1917 when she married Samuel Lewis Allen.

She was an active member in the First Methodist Church for many years.
