The funeral for Anna Mary Schwab will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, ND with Rev. Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Anna Mary Schwab was born September 13, 1916 on a farm west of Strasburg, ND, the daughter of George and Barbara (Welk) Deringer. She attended country school. She also helped on the family farm. Anna Mary was the oldest niece of Lawrence Welk.
Anna Mary married Adam Schwab in Strasburg on February 18, 1938. They lived in Strasburg and moved and lived in several areas before moving and settling back in Strasburg. Adam died in 1989. Anna Mary continued to live at her house until entering the Strasburg Care Center in July of 2001.
She was a member of St. Mary's Society. She enjoyed quilting, sewing rugs and spending time with family and friends.
Grateful to have shared her life are three sons and one daughter-in-law: Tony Schwab of Kooskia, Idaho, William Schwab of Redfield, SD and James and Carrie Schwab of Murrieta, CA; four daughters and four sons-in-law: Levina & Jim Kaiser of Aberdeen, SD, Jean & Gordon Backhaus of Rapid City, SD, Alice and Jan Harriman of Stillwater, MN and Karen & David Banghart of Reno, NV; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Leo & Clara Deringer of Strasburg, ND, Bertha Deringer of Strasburg, ND and Pius Deringer of Sterling, ND; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Christine Baumgartner of Strasburg, ND and Angie & Robert Murphy of Blue Earth, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1989, her son, Leo, a great granddaughter, Emily Jean Backhaus, two brothers: Eugene and Victor, one sister, Agnes Kuss and one daughter-in-law: Eva Schwab.
