Lona was born December 3, 1929 in Vanceburg, KY to the late John and Sarah E. (Butler) Bloomfield. She was married to the late Cecil Burton who preceded her in death on June 17, 1990.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, Darrell Wayne; four brothers; and three sister.
Lona is survived by children, Charles L. Burton, Columbus, Mary (Gilbert) Buckner, Allen (Tina) Burton, and Bonnie (Ted) Gilliam all of Bucyrus, Freda Burton of Huntington, WV; 21 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and sisters, Bertha Ruark, Mt. Vernon, Lillie Cooley of Garrison, KY, and Dorothy Pierce of Vanceburg, KY;
Lona moved to Bucyrus in the early 1950's and was a homemaker. For many years Lona did volunteer work for the 7th Day Adventist Community Center. She loved to raise a garden, flowers, canning, as well as watching red birds and squirrels.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Rev.Carl Angel officiating, burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00am until the time of services. The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's foundation.
